New 2008 Beijing
Flyer The purpose of this course is to provide students an exploration of one of the largest and fastest developing countries in the world, China. We focus on how external relations affect the development in China in both urban and rural settings. We aim at enhancing students’ ability to analyze development issues from a governmental perspective and a non-governmental perspective. These experiences help students analyze the economic development policy making processes and can further their understanding about international development issues.
This study abroad course provides students with first-hand
experience with the socio-economic problems such as migrant workers and rural-urban inequality issues resulting from the current
economic development model in China. We also look at how Chinese
non-government organizations help deal with the problems. Students learn
how NGOs emerged in China. |
